About Aloha, Oregon
Aloha is an unincorporated suburban community in Washington County, just west of Beaverton along the Tualatin Valley Highway. Home to roughly 54,000 residents, Aloha is known for its family-friendly neighborhoods, strong public schools, and proximity to major tech employers on the Silicon Forest corridor.
History of Aloha
Aloha takes its name from the Aloha post office that opened in 1912 — though the name's origin is debated (some say it's a Hawaiian reference from a settler, others say it's a corruption of a Native American word). The area remained largely agricultural through the mid-20th century, with berry farms and nurseries dominating the landscape. Suburban growth accelerated in the 1970s and 1980s as Washington County became a tech hub and Beaverton expanded westward.
