Happy Valley is a city of roughly 25,000 in Clackamas County, nestled against Mt. Scott just southeast of Portland. History of Happy Valley
Happy Valley was named in the 1850s by early settler Christian Deardorff for the lushness of the valley. It was incorporated as a city in 1965 with fewer than 300 residents. For most of its history it remained a small rural community, but rapid suburban growth since 2000 has increased the population by roughly 8x, making Happy Valley one of the fastest-growing cities in Oregon.
