History of Hillsboro
Hillsboro was founded in 1842 by David Hill, one of the framers of Oregon's provisional government. For most of its history the city was an agricultural center serving the surrounding Tualatin Valley. The transformation to a tech hub began in the 1970s when Intel chose Hillsboro for its second major manufacturing site, triggering decades of growth that continues today.
