Oak Grove is an unincorporated community in Clackamas County along the east bank of the Willamette River, between Milwaukie and Gladstone. With a population of around 18,000, Oak Grove has a distinct character built around its river orientation, historic streetcar suburb roots, and a mix of established and newer residential neighborhoods.
History of Oak Grove
Oak Grove was developed as a streetcar suburb of Portland in the early 20th century, along the Oregon Electric Railway. Many of the original riverside homes date from the 1910s and 1920s. The community remained unincorporated as Milwaukie and Gladstone grew around it, giving Oak Grove its own distinct identity to this day.
